Tallahassee, FL- State of Florida $3 Mar. 1, 1863 Cr. 17 PMG Choice About Unc 58 EPQ.A total of 12,600 $3s, like this note, were issued as part of the state's 1863 war issue. Printed by Keatinge & Ball, the $3 features pre-war vignettes of a warship whose flag has been altered to resemble the Confederate naval ensign at the time, St. Catherine of Alexandria at right, and an animal that appears to be a cross between an elk and a moose at left. A red-orange 3-THREE-3 protector completes the design. Unlike many examples from this series, this note has pristine bright paper with no toning and a protector that shows no signs of oxidation.
