Fernandina, FL- Bank of Fernandina $5 Feb. 1, 1860 G2a Benice 4The bank opened in 1859 and was forced to move to Starke in 1862 when Union forces occupied Fernandina. The bank closed circa 1865. Benice estimates 30 or fewer surviving examples. This note has a lot of things going for it: bright red ends, bold pen signatures, and enough condition to merit its inclusion in almost any collection. PMG grades this note Very Fine 20.
