Description

Fernandina, FL- Bank of Fernandina $20 Dec. 1, 1859 G6a Benice 6 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 30.
Chartered in 1859, this bank operated in Fernandina until March 1862 when Union forces captured the city, forcing the bank to move to Starke. This popular note has a great train vignette and striking red end panels which were designed to thwart counterfeiters attempting early photographic copies. The note is fully issued with legitimate signatures of Roux and Cole. PCGS Banknote mentions some relatively minor light damp stains.
