Description

New Haven, CT- New Haven County Bank $20 18__ G56 Proof PMG Choice About Unc 58.
This $20 is a bit later vintage Proof from the 1850s. It features a center vignette that appeared on a significant number of bank notes around the country with customizing modifications made to the center shield. In this case, a Native American family and a teacher with her students flank a large shield containing the Connecticut coat of arms. As was the case with many notes from this bank, a dog and safe vignette, representing Fidelity is at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with six POCs in the signature lines. We believe that this is the example appearing in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale, Lot 95, and is likely unique or nearly so.
