Description

Falls Village, CT- Iron Bank $5 18__ G12c Remainder PCGS Banknote Superb Gem Unc 68 PPQ.
The Iron Bank was incorporated in 1847 and remained in business until becoming the National Iron Bank of Falls Village in 1865. There are several variations of the $5 from this bank known to exist. The main difference among them is the central vignette. On this piece, a depiction of the Great Falls on the Housatonic River at Falls Village is at center, a portrait of Benjamin Franklin is at right, and an iron worker is at left. A reddish-pink tint completes the design. A PMG graded Superb Gem Unc 68 EPQ example of the same design realized $396 in our February 2025 auction.
