Boston, MA- State Bank $20 18__ G182 Proof PCGS Very Choice New 64.
The bank was organized in 1811 and remained in business until it was succeeded by the State National Bank of Boston which was chartered on April 17, 1865. The $20 design features a vignette of Commerce seated with an allegorical woman with a busy harbor as well as a canal and train in the distance. The Massachusetts coat of arms at left, a dog head at bottom, and a cameo-like helmeted medallion head is at right. The note is printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with four POCs in the signature lines. The estimated surviving population of this note in Proof form is between two and four examples.
