Unlisted Variety
(Little Rock), AR- State of Arkansas - Arkansas Treasury Warrant
$5 Jan. 21, 1863 Cr. UNL PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.This appears to be an unlisted variety that is 1) printed on the backs of Bank of the State of Arkansas drafts or perhaps bills of exchange, with 2) the interest rate text struck through/removed. It is not Cr. 51F since 1) the host Bank of the State of Arkansas fiscal instruments are definitely not part of a stock certificate and 2) the interest rate text has been struck through/removed. It also can not be Cr. 52B since the documents on the back are not bills of exchange on the Real Estate Bank of the State of Arkansas. For similar reasons, the PMG attribution of Cr. 48 as listed on the front label can not be correct either. New varieties are difficult to value as we are aware of no other examples at present although it seems likely that at least a few more will show up as previous misattributions are discovered.
