Description

Cahawba, AL- State of Alabama $10 ___ Dec., 1821 Cr. C36 Gunther-Derby AS-001-$10h PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.
Part of the deceptively complex early issues made out of the first state capital, Cahawba, this $10 note was payable to Hugh A. Anderson, State Representative from Lawrence County. This example, which is neatly hammer-canceled, as are most, has nonetheless earned PMG's EPQ designation for exceptional paper quality. This is the first example of this particular variety that we have offered. It is one serial number removed from the plate note in the Shull Southern States and Gunther-Deby catalogs.
From The Jerry Loegler Collection

Estimate: $600 - up.
