Bladon Springs, AL- D. Partridge, Postmaster at Bladon Springs 10¢ Feb. 1, 1862 Gunther-Derby AO-117-$.10a Rosene 19-1 PMG Choice Fine 15 Net.
This Bladon Springs production was signed by a father-son pair. Benj(amin) S. Partridge, the son, signed at lower right, while D(aniel) Partridge, Benjamin's father, countersigned at center. This piece features a popular vignette of a passenger locomotive at center. Two series were emitted by the issuer, with our current offering originating from the first one. This first series was payable in current funds and dated February 1, 1862. Only around two examples of this design and denomination are believed to exist today. PMG mentions that the note in this lot has been severed and reattached, as well as repaired.
