Description

Mount Holly, NJ- Mount Holly Bank $2 18__ as G4a as Wait 1329 Proof PMG Choice Uncirculated 64.
The bank was incorporated in 1857 and remained in business until 1865 when it became the Mount Holly National Bank. This design features Liberty and Prosperity seated by the New Jersey state seal. This vignette is flanked by another of three putti at bottom left and the state banking die at bottom right. There is an overall red tint and a large red TWO protector counter at bottom center. The note is printed on India paper and is mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines. There was one example of this denomination in the 1990 ABNCo sale. We believe that this note is very rare and even possibly unique.
