Description
Bordentown, NJ- Bordentown Banking Co. $1 18__ as G2a as Wait 90 Face and Back Proofs PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ, PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ.The bank was incorporated in 1851 and remained in business until at least 1904. This note was designed for use when the bank was operating as a Free Bank between 1851 and 1854. The design features a vignette of a passenger train rounding a curve. A portrait of Francis Hopkinson appears at lower right, while the state banking die is at lower left. The face and back are printed on India paper mounted on cardstock with the usual POCs in the signature lines on the face. There were 13 examples of the Face Proof and 20 examples of the generic Back Proofs scattered across several lots in the 1990 ABNCo Archives sale. (Total: 2 notes)
