Description

Very Rare Serial Number 1 Washington State Red Seal

Serial Number 1 Bellingham, WA - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First National Bank Ch. # (P)7372 PMG Choice Extremely Fine 45 EPQ.
One of the highlights of tonight's offering of National Bank Notes, this wonderful note is one of just four Serial Number 1 Red Seals reported from all Washington State banks. Red Seals are a rare breed from this Pacific Northwest state, with fewer than 30 pieces from all banks recorded in the National Currency Foundation census. They are even rarer as a Serial Number 1 note. Of the Number 1 examples reported, this pretty note is the only one of the four to have made a public appearance since 2010, when a $5 from a Ritzville bank fetched almost $35,000 at auction. This offering is a pen-signed beauty with vivid ink colors, original surfaces, and just a few light storage folds. This is truly a great note, fit for the finest of collections and will be eagerly pursued by the many collectors of this state as well as anyone who appreciates great Red Seals.
