Waverly, VA - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 606 The First National Bank
Ch. # (S)10914 PMG Very Fine 25.This great Virginia note comes from a rare and very seldom offered southside location. While four examples are listed in the census from this Sussex County community's sole issuer, an institution that was only in business from 1916 until 1927, three of the recorded pieces have been in extremely tight hands and have never appeared at public sale. That leaves just this $10 which we last offered in our 2017 FUN auction. It is a crisp, moderately circulated note, with just some staining that has been lightened, and a small area of discoloration on the back. Despite the flaws, this Virginia rarity faces up quite nicely for the grade.
