Description
Silverton, TX - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First NB Ch. # (S)8816This is about as rare as any Texas National is likely to be, as only three notes are known from this one bank community in Briscoe County. One is listed in the census without a serial number, the second is a serial number 1 Red Seal, and this is the third. It comes from the Irish and Ivy holdings, and has been off the market since its last offering in January of 2001. While hardly unappealing in its overall appearance, there is an old time tape repair on the back which affects the front of the note as well. As the Red Seal is now part of a prominent collection, and the other Blue Seal has never, to our best knowledge, been offered publicly, this may be the only chance for many years for serious collectors of this state's notes to obtain any example from this small panhandle community. Good-Very Good.
