Houston, TX - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 471 The Planters & Mechanics National Bank Ch. # (S)4463 PMG Very Fine 25 EPQ.A new note for the census, this offering raises the National Currency Foundation tally to a mere seven examples, two of which are housed in institutional collections. The Planters & Mechanics National Bank was a Brown Back only charter that had its doors opened from just 1890 to 1907. This offering is just the second $5 to be reported and is easily the finer of the pair, featuring attractive color, original surfaces, and clear stamped signatures.
