Description

Unique $10 Series 1875 Fort Worth Note

Fort Worth, TX - $10 1875 Fr. 420 The Traders National Bank Ch. # 2689 PMG Very Fine 20.
This great Texas rarity is the sole 1875 $10 reported from any Fort Worth bank and one of fewer than 20 examples of this type and denomination in the census for all Lone Star State charters. It also represents a very rare Fort Worth bank, a charter that went out in 1916 and which now has only six pieces overall reported, three of which are locked away in institutional collections. Of the remaining three notes in private hands, this $10 is the only one to have ever appeared at public sale. As we said when we offered this note in our 2010 Memphis auction, "There are a few edge repairs that affect little, and the reverse is a bit discolored, but where can another note on this bank, let alone a First Charter $10, be obtained at any price." All of those remarks have stood the test of time and this unique piece is now available for another collector to appreciate.
