Providence, RI - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 469 The City National
Bank Ch. # 1429 PMG Choice Fine 15.A great note from an excessively rare Providence bank that issued First and Second Charters only before liquidating in 1900. To date just three examples have been reported, all $5 Brown Backs, and one of which we are offering this evening. This example is an evenly circulated $5 with solid paper and dark, oversized pen signatures, providing a new opportunity for the Rhode Island collectors to add this charter to their holdings.
