Description

Tenth NB of Philadelphia Uncut Pair of $5 Brown Backs

Philadelphia, PA - $5-$5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 469 The Tenth National Bank Ch. # 3423 Uncut Pair PMG Very Fine 30 EPQ.
This offering features an unusual uncut pair of $5 Brown Backs from this always in demand numerically titled Philadelphia bank. Together, they represent two of the mere three examples of this type and denomination reported from this charter. Both notes possess four broad margins plus paper originality. We also see the penned signature of Cashier Walter Scott and the rubber stamped signature of President John K. Cuming. They were the first cashier and president of this bank and would serve in these positions together until 1910. The PMG label states that the notes are unaffected by issues in the selvage and those are a pinhole at lower left and a tiny split to the immediate left of the paper guide line arrow.
