First Time Ever Offered

Springfield, OR - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The First NB Ch. # (P)8941
As rare an Oregon note as most of us will ever see, as the census from this small one bank town stands at one large and one small example. This was another bank which existed for years at the statutory minimum capitalization level, meaning the number of notes issued was miniscule. Our records show that no notes from this bank have ever been offered at public sale prior to this evening. But wait...did we add that the condition here is stellar as well, Very Fine-Extremely Fine with bright white paper, pen signatures, and barely any signs of circulation without careful inspection. Difficult to estimate, because tomorrow morning no amount of money could duplicate this note, but our best guess is...
Purchased at the Springfield, Oregon coin show in January of 1977, when a member of the public brought it in to determine if it had any value.
