Description

Third Reported Silverton, Oregon Large Size

Silverton, OR - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 658 The First National Bank of Silverton Ch. # 11106 PMG Very Fine 25.
This is simply a wonderful new addition to the census of this very rare Marion County bank that was closed by the receiver in 1932. This bank was the only issuer in this small community before the Great Depression forced it to close its doors. Just two large size survivors had been reported before the surfacing of this $20 Plain Back. It becomes the finest of the known trio as the other two examples in the census grade only Fine or so. By contrast, this offering is a bright, very attractive piece with sharp ink colors and bold signatures, one signed and one stamped. This is the first large note we have ever been able to offer from this rare charter and it is sure to generate plenty of bidding interest tonight.
