Ardmore, Indian Territory - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 471 The First
National Bank Ch. # (W)4393 PMG Choice Fine 15.A great Indian Territory note from this very scarce Ardmore bank that issued large size only before closing its doors in 1924. Barely a dozen notes are listed in the census from this tough charter, including three Territorial Brown Backs - two Fives, and one Twenty. However, one of those Fives is unavailable to collectors as it is part of the Aubrey Beebe holdings locked away in the ANA museum making this piece the only one of the pair available to collectors. It is a pleasing, problem-free note that exhibits just honest wear. It retains solid paper for the grade and features attractive color and dark printed signatures.
