Ripley, OH - $5 Original Fr. 394a The First National Bank Ch. #
289 PCGS Banknote Choice Fine 15 Details.A rare note indeed, this piece is one of only two examples reported from this bank that issued First Charters only before liquidating in 1882 and was succeeded by Charter 2837. Notes from this bank were missing from both the massive Kelly holdings as well as The Yoder Family Collection. Of the two notes reported, Track & Price shows that only this Original Series $5 has made a public appearance in almost 30 years. It has a few trivial edge splits that are common for notes of this era. This is a great Ohio rarity.
