Middletown, NY - $5 Original Fr. 397 The Middletown NB Ch. # 1276An extremely rare Orange County bank which issued First Charters only before entering receivership in 1884. A meager three examples are listed in the census, one high grade and two in abysmally low grade, and, of that trio, only one of the low grade notes has been offered at public sale during the past twenty five years. This specimen is new to the census and attractive for the grade despite its Apparent designation, which comes because of a few edge splits.
