Rare and Attractive McGill Large Note

McGill, NV - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 626 The McGill National Bank Ch. # (P)9452 PMG Very Fine 30.
Somewhat available in small size, this always popular White Pine County bank is downright rare in large, with just six pieces reported, none of which have been publicly offered in almost ten years. McGill was a former copper mining and smelting center whose prosperity enabled this bank to open its doors in 1909. However, the demand for copper waned during the Great Depression and this institution closed for good in 1934. This offering is a very pretty, boldly printed $10 with excellent color and dark stamped signatures. During an entirely different market, it realized $28,200 in our 2015 Long Beach auction. While we do not expect that realization tonight, it remains rare and desirable enough to still fetch a five-figure price.
