Description

Only Collectable Bank in Butler, MO

Butler, MO - $2 Original Fr. 389a The Bates County National Bank Ch. # 1843 PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25.
This community is located about fifty miles south of Kansas City and is the seat of Bates County. This was the first of Butler's three issuing banks and the only one of the trio that is truly collectable, as the next bank chartered has left but one surviving example, and the third is as yet unreported. Tonight's offering is one of ten notes reported from this charter that liquidated in 1894 and is the finest of just two Deuces in the census. Pedigreed to the Eric P. Newman Collection, this is an attractive, problem free example with nice color for the grade and bold pen signatures.
