Sole Reported Summit, MS Note

Summit, MS - $5 1902 Date Back Fr. 593 The National Bank of Summit Ch. # (S)9753 PMG Very Fine 25.
An incredible rarity, this is the only note reported from this small southern Mississippi town that is located near the Louisiana state line. Summit was the host to two note-issuing banks - Charter 9753 which opened in 1910 and closed three years later in 1913 and its successor, Charter 10338, which itself closed just two years later in 1915. To date, the latter charter remains unreported while just one piece is recorded from the first chartered bank - the $5 Date Back we are pleased to offer this evening. Crossing the auction block for the first time, it is quite attractive for the assigned grade with bright paper, bold ink colors, and legible stamped signatures. This is a great Southern note that should generate serious bidding interest tonight.
