Saint Paul, MN - $5 Original Fr. 399 The Merchants NB Ch. # 2020A super common bank...except in early notes, where any example is prohibitively rare. Of the more than 110 large notes known from this bank, only two are First Charters, with one graded "Poor" and the other listed as "Good," with neither having been available to collectors in at least two decades. This piece is newly discovered and most attractive to boot, with even circulation, bright colors and strong pen signatures. PMG Choice Fine 15, a great early Minnesota state capital rarity.
