Description

Excessively Rare Fr. 597a

Minneapolis, MN - $5 1902 Date Back Fr. 597a The First & Security National Bank Ch. # (M)710 PMG Very Good 10.
While a note from this rather available charter would not normally appear in one of our Signature Auctions, this offering is rather unusual in that it bears a very rare Treasury signature combination, the last used on Third Charter Date Backs. It was used here only due to a 1915 title change which resulted in new plates being prepared utilizing the then-current Teehee-Burke signatures. The listing for this number in the latest edition of the Friedberg reference simply states "1 known," although the National Currency Foundation census lists three, one of which is very low grade. Either way, this is a very rare piece of paper and is a necessary piece for any collector seeking to assemble a complete set of Friedberg numbers.
