Description

Excessively Rare Fr. 388 Jeffries-Spinner Lazy Deuce

Mankato, MN - $2 Original Fr. 388 The First NB Ch. # 1683
Although well circulated, this Lazy Deuce will receive a lot of attention from both Minnesota collectors and collectors assembling sets of Nationals by Friedberg number. It is one of only five Deuces known for the entire country with the Jeffries-Spinner combination. Census information indicates one other piece from this bank, a PMG Very Fine 25 note that sold at auction last year for $23,500, a specimen from the Greene County NB of Springfield, Missouri, and two from the First National in Hillsborough, New Hampshire. In Large Size Type, notes with five known survivors almost assuredly sell for six figures or more. Despite its wear, tonight's offering is whole and attractive for the grade, save for a small edge tear at right. PCGS Very Good 10.
