Description

Very Rare Massachusetts $50 Red Seal - One of Three Reported

Taunton, MA - $50 1902 Red Seal Fr. 664 The Bristol County National Bank Ch. # (N)766 PMG Very Fine 25.
This great Massachusetts rarity is one of just three $50 Red Seals reported for all Bay State banks, according to the National Currency Foundation census. It is the first of that trio to make a public appearance in over 20 years. Not surprisingly, it is the only example of this type and denomination reported for this Bristol County bank and it is crossing the auction block for the first time. Fortunately for collectors, it is a most attractive piece with bright paper and even wear along with a bold overprint and dark printed signatures. Any estimate on a rarity of this caliber is simply a guess so we will be conservative and let the bidders decide what it takes to bring home this Massachusetts trophy note tonight.
