Description
Maine "Circus Poster" $5 Brown Back
Augusta, ME - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 466 The First National Bank
Ch. # 367 PMG Choice Fine 15.This is a circulated yet still attractive $5 Brown Back from Maine's state capital that bears the all-time favorite bank title layout to be found on a National Bank Note - the famous "Circus Poster." It is one of just two such pieces reported from this large-only capital city charter that closed in 1916. However, with the other known example housed in a PCGS Apparent Very Good 8 holder, this offering is the finest of the pair. It displays pleasing color and signatures for the grade, with just a small area of residue on the back.
