Rare 14000 Charter Number Bank Type 2 $100

Mount Olive, IL - $100 1929 Ty. 2 The Mount Olive National Bank Ch. # 14285 PMG About Uncirculated 53.
This is a great note from a rare Macoupin County bank whose total issue was made up of 250 Type 2 hundreds issued in the very depths of the Depression. Seven survivors are recorded today, including this example, which is crossing the auction block for the first time. It is signed by W.W. Prange and A.G. Prange, scions of a prominent local banking family who also owned and operated the Prange National Bank of New Douglas. One of the better known survivors, this lightly circulated $100 features bold ink colors and solid embossing. PMG mentions pinholes.
