Description

Beautiful and Rare Serial Number 1 Idaho $5 Brown Back

Serial Number 1 Wallace, ID - $5 1882 Brown Back Fr. 472 The First National Bank Ch. # 4773 PMG Extremely Fine 40.
A truly spectacular Idaho note, this is one of just four Serial Number 1 $5 Brown Backs reported for the entire state. Two of that number are from this Shoshone County bank with the other Number 1 piece from this charter grading in the Fine-Very Fine range. That is not the case here as this beautiful note has just a few light storage folds while it retains its full original ink colors (as attested to by PMG's comment "Great Color") as well as loads of eye appeal. With the other two Number 1 $5 Brown Backs hailing from Territorial banks in Ketchum and Pocatello and locked away in long-term collections, this may be the only opportunity for many years to come for a collector to acquire a Number 1 Brown Back from this popular western state, especially considering the fact that no Number 1 Brown Back of any denomination has made a public appearance in almost a quarter-century. This is a true trophy note that is worth whatever it takes to bring it home tonight.
