Description

Serial Number 1 Saint Maries Plain Back

Serial Number 1 Saint Maries, ID - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 606 The First National Bank Ch. # (P)10771 PMG Choice Very Fine 35.
This very attractive Serial Number 1 Plain Back comes from the only bank to issue in tiny Benewah County which closed its doors just before Christmas in 1931. It is one of only around twenty Number 1 large size reported from all Idaho banks and the only example in the census from this charter. It is a pleasing, pen signed $5 with nice color and plenty of original embossing. Last on the market in a 2014 auction where it realized over $15,000, it has acquired some minor residue and small edge tears, but these flaws are not at all distracting and the note certainly faces up at a much higher grade.
