Description

One of Three Known

Clermont, FL - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 659 The First NB Ch. # 11921
This is a seriously rare note from one of Florida's most difficult to obtain locations, no surprise considering that this institution issued large notes only until its demise. Just three pieces are known from this one bank community, with only one of that number ever having been available to collectors at public sale. That was a low grade piece which we sold two years ago, which, despite repairs and considerable restoration, fetched over $8000. This piece is far nicer, grading a solid PMG graded Fine 12 and displaying no problems whatever. With the other two Clermont notes now locked up in long term Florida holdings, it might be many years until another opportunity to obtain any note from this much desired location arises. If rarity and desirability are any guide, expect a strong five figure realization for this important Florida treasure.
