Apalachicola, FL - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The First National
Bank Ch. # (S)6274 PMG Choice Fine 15.A great Florida rarity from a panhandle bank that issued Red Seals and Date Backs only during its brief nine-year existence. To date, just four notes are reported from this tough charter - all Red Seals - with none having made a public appearance since we auctioned tonight's offering in our 2012 ANA auction. This $5 has seen its share of circulation but retains good color and solid paper, and is actually the finest of the four notes in census. It took $25,000 to bring home this treasure twelve years ago, and considering that it is still just as rare and desirable today, it could well approach that number again.
