50.A great rarity from our nation's capital that is one of just two Serial Number 1 Red Seals reported from all District of Columbia banks. Crossing the auction block for the first time, this is a lovely note with bold, original ink colors, dark printed signatures, and just a couple of light storage folds. The other known DC Number 1 Red Seal, which is from the National Bank of Washington (Charter 3425) and housed in a PMG 35 holder, recently sold in an internet auction for just over $20,000. We see no reason why this clearly superior piece should not do at least as well.
