Stockton, CA - $50 1929 Ty. 1 The First NB Ch. # 2412A truly wonderful note from this well-collected gold rush community that is not only the first serial number 1 example of any kind to be reported from this issuer, but it also represents a denomination that is extremely rare in terms of surviving number 1 examples. It is one of less than 100 serial number 1 small size $50s known for the entire country, and the California population of serial number 1 $50s consists of just an uncut sheet from Bakersfield and individual circulated examples from Los Angeles and San Jose. Tonight's offering is as pretty as it is rare and has the look of a Choice CU note in its holder with bright, white paper and bold, original embossing.
