Description

Very Rare San Leandro Note - First Offering Since 2004

San Leandro, CA - $20 1902 Plain Back Fr. 661 The San Leandro National Bank Ch. # 12802 PMG Choice About Unc 58.
A great California note from an extremely rare San Leandro bank which lasted for less than two years before liquidating in 1927. While six examples are listed in the census, just one piece has ever appeared at public sale and that last occurrence was in our 2004 Long Beach auction. One of the other five known notes, this offering is a beautiful piece that is, quite likely, the finest reported. While the stamped signatures have faded, this is a bright, boldly printed $20 with little, if any, evidence of circulation. It presents a great opportunity for today's generation of Golden State collectors.
