Description

Very Rare Germania NB of San Francisco - Finest of Three Reported

San Francisco, CA - $5 1902 Red Seal Fr. 587 The Germania National Bank Ch. # (P)6592 PMG Very Fine 30.
This wonderful San Francisco rarity hails from an ethnically titled bank that issued Red Seals only during its brief existence from 1903 until 1907. It is one of just three pieces reported from this charter and is making its first public appearance since John Hickman sold it as part of The Philip Krakover Collection in 1990. It is the finest graded of the three known examples and features bold ink colors and dark pen signatures, including that of the bank's vice-president. By way of comparison, we recently auctioned a much lower grade note from this bank for $4,440.
