Salinas, CA - $5 1882 Date Back Fr. 534 The First National Bank
Ch. # (P)5074 PMG Very Fine 20.This truly rare note hails from a Monterey County bank that was only in business from 1897 until it was absorbed by the Bank of Italy in 1923. It is one of just six notes reported from this charter and the only 1882 $5 Date Back in the census. It is well margined with even wear along with good color and signatures. Three years ago, we auctioned a 1882 $20 Date Back, in a PMG Fine 15 holder, from this bank for $8,400.
