Attractive Sacramento $5 National Gold Bank Note
Sacramento, CA - $5 1872 Fr. 1138 The National Gold Bank of D O
Mills & Co. Ch. # 2014 PMG Very Fine 25.This is a very nice example from one of the more elusive National Gold Banks that certainly is a finer note than is usually seen from this charter. This offering is bright with excellent color, which comes from these being printed on yellow paper and having a red overprint. The details of the all important gold coin vignette on the back are sharp and clear. It does have a few minor flaws including a tape repair, some edge splits, and a small ink stain on the face. However, these issues do little to detract from the overall pleasing appearance of this pretty $5 Gold Bank Note. By way of comparison, we recently auctioned another $5, also in a PMG Very Fine 25 holder, but without any comments, for $24,000.
