Palo Alto, CA - $10 1902 Plain Back Fr. 624 The First National
Bank Ch. # 7069 PMG Very Fine 25.Another great California rarity that is from the only bank in Palo Alto to issue large notes. This charter was only in business from 1903 until its liquidation in 1928 and, to date, just five pieces are reported from this rare institution, none of which have been publicly offered in over 20 years. That scant total includes this $10 which traces its provenance to the John Hickman sale of The Philip Krakover Collection in 1990. It is a bright, moderately circulated Plain Back with pleasing color and problem free wear.
