Los Gatos, CA - $50 1902 Date Back Fr. 671 The First National
Bank Ch. # 10091 PMG Very Fine 20.While small size notes are rather available from this popular one bank Santa Clara County community, large notes are another matter completely, with this institution having chosen to issue high denomination examples only. Fewer than 1,000 sheets were issued over a period of nearly 20 years, with just four survivors reported to date, none of which have been publicly offered since our auction of The Lowell Horwedel Collection in 2004. One of that quartet, this $50 is crossing the auction block for the first time and provides a great opportunity for today's generation of collectors. It is a pleasing, moderately circulated example with good color, bold pen signatures, and solid paper for the grade.
