Finest Large Size Offering Ever From This Tucson Bank

Tucson, AZ - $5 1902 Plain Back Fr. 602 The Consolidated National Bank Ch. # 4287 PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ.
This absolutely gorgeous Tucson note has crossed the block twice before in one of our auctions, in 2011 and 2018. In that first appearance fourteen years ago, we said, "A spectacular Arizona note which might well be the finest large example known from both this Tucson bank and the entire state. It is one of only three pieces grading CU or better in the census from this institution, and the only one to be graded Gem New 65 by a third party grading service. Any superlatives used in cataloging are in order here, as the paper is blast white, the imprint and colors as bold as the day the note left the Bureau, the signatures as bright and clear as the moment they were applied at the bank, and the margins even on both the front and back." All these years later, this is still the finest large size to ever appeared at public sale from this popular Arizona bank. In both of its previous auctions, this lovely note fetched a five-figure price and will likely do so again.
