National Bank Note statistics for Arizona tell an interesting story. It was a sparsely populated area of the country, the last to earn statehood in the lower 48. The notes are rare, with incredible rarities even among the small size issues. This piece is one of the few serial number one notes known from the state. Most of the serial number one small size notes from Arizona are from two cut sheets of Prescott notes. Outside of that, there are only four examples known from the remaining banks combined. This piece a lovely, fully embossed example that has a body fold near the left margin. It has all the eye appeal of an Uncirculated piece with the wonderful A000001A serial number.
