Rare Globe, Arizona Territory Date Back

Globe, Arizona Territory - $10 1902 Date Back Fr. 616 The First National Bank Ch. # (P)6579 PMG Very Fine 25.
A great Territorial note from the the sole collectible bank in rural Gila County, home to more rattlesnakes than people. Only large notes were issued from here, with the census standing at just over a dozen pieces, four of which are Territorials according to the National Currency Foundation compilation. However, of that quartet, just one has been publicly available over the past 15 years, a $10 Date Back that was described as a raw Fine-Very Fine and sold at auction for $32,400 in 2019. This is one of other four known examples and is, quite likely, at least tied for the finest of that quartet. Displaying even wear, this $10 features bold ink colors, sharp pen signatures, and plenty of eye appeal. A wonderful financial artifact from the Old West.
