Description

Birmingham, AL - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The First NB Ch. # (S)3185 PMG About Uncirculated 53 EPQ.
A prolific issuer of banknotes that was chartered May 15, 1884, this institution survived through the national banking era. This note is a picture-perfect example of how bright and original Red Seals are one of the prettiest national bank note types. Wonderfully executed signatures of James Henry "Jack" Barr and William Proctor Gould Harding places this note in the 1905-07 timeframe. The seal color is absolutely luscious and the printing quality bearing an almost cameo contrast against bright, white paper. We have not sold another Red Seal since our 2015 Central States Auction. That PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ topped the $2,200 figure that evening.
