Description
Smillie Vignette. Unsigned female vignette representing Progress that appeared on the reverse of the Series 1901 $10 Legal Tender Notes, approximately two and one-fourth inches by one and one-eighth inch, on India paper mounted on card. A pencil notation at the bottom "Die Progress by Walter Shirlaw Engraved by F.F.C. Smillie." Pencil notations on the card indicate the currency use of the image by Friedberg designations. Both vignette and card are in excellent condition.
