Description
James Smillie engraved vignette "MORTAR FIRING," approximately one and one-half inch in diameter, on India paper mounted on card. This vignette was a secondary image on the Interest Bearing and Compound Interest Bearing Treasury Notes of 1863-1865. Pencil notations on the card attribute the work and list its use on currency by Friedberg designations. Both vignette and card are in excellent condition.
